It’s no secret that I have an enduring love for fanny packs. In fact, my passion is well documented here, here, and here.
But what do you actually PUT in your fanny pack during the school day? Kristi O., a Dean of Students for Charlotte-Mecklenberg Public Schools, gave us the inside edge on her pack. But first, a flashy fanny shot. . .
Kristi says, “I try to be as visible as possible during the school day, but also need access to a lot of things. With all my supplies with me, I don’t have to revisit my office multiple times a day and I’m more likely to stick to my schedule (i.e., no reason to be tempted by my inbox, which tends to draw me in when I least want it to!). In my fanny pack I keep EVERYTHING I need to live (mostly) hands-free.”
Here’s what’s inside:
- A pocket for her phone—Kristi’s school uses Class DoJo, so it’s important to reinforce expectations for kids and model for teachers.
- A place for her walkie-talkie
- Praise Post-its
- Extra pens and a sharpie
- Hand sanitizer
- A few bandaids
- Advil
- Lip gloss/Chapstick
- Mints—Because no one likes coffee breath!
Kristi’s final fanny pack review: “It’s magical! And now teachers want to know if our leadership team is going to order fanny packs for them in the near future!”
Kristi, thanks for sharing your pictures and the details. I have a feeling you will be Fanny Famous!
